2022 Local 80 Election Information

2022 General Election of Officers & Delegates
Nominations of Officers and Delegates will take place on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at a
Special Meeting of the Membership for the sole purpose of nominating candidates for the
General Election to determine Officers and Delegates for the next 3 year term.
The Rules of Eligibility for Officers are as follows:
1. A candidate must have been a member in continuous good standing for at least two (2)
years prior to the date of nomination and as of the election (1st Quarter 2020 thru 1st
Quarter 2022), and the candidate’s dues must be paid through the month prior to the
month (1st Quarter 2022) in which the nominations meeting and election are held.
“Good standing” shall be construed to mean that the member has fulfilled the requirements
for membership in Local 80 and/or International, and has not voluntarily withdrawn from
membership, nor been expelled or suspended from membership.

2. A candidate shall be actively engaged in the industry within Local 80’s jurisdiction and have
worked for at least one hundred and twenty (120) days in the past thirty-six (36) months
(February 28, 2019 thru February 28, 2022). Time served as an Officer or employee of
Local 80 or the International shall be applicable towards the days requirement.

3. No person who has been convicted of, or served any part of a prison term resulting
from conviction of, robbery, bribery, extortion, embezzlement, grand larceny, burglary,
arson, violation of narcotics laws, murder, rape, assault with intent to kill, assault which
inflicts grievous bodily injury, or a violation of title II or III of this act, any felony involving
abuse or misuse of such person’s position or employment in a labor organization or
employee benefit plan to seek or obtain an illegal gain at the expense of the members
or beneficiaries, or conspiracy to commit any such crimes or attempt to commit any
such crimes, or a crime in which any of the foregoing crimes is an element, shall serve
or be permitted to serve as an officer, director, trustee, member of any executive board
or similar governing body, business agent, manager, organizer, employee, or representative
in any capacity of any Labor organization during or for the period of thirteen (13) years
after such conviction or after the end of such imprisonment, whichever is later.

The Rules of Eligibility for Delegates are as follows:
1. The candidate’s dues must be paid through the month prior to the month
(1st Quarter 2022) in which the nominations meeting and election are held.

Any prospective nominee / candidate may request the Election Committee to review their
eligibility to be a nominee / candidate. Such requests must be received at least two (2)
weeks before the Nominations Meeting. Requests must be sent in writing (postal or
email) to the Election Committee.

Nominees will be required to attest that they meet the criteria for eligibility when
accepting a nomination.

The members of Local 80 will nominate and elect their Officers and Delegates next year.
Nominations will take place on Sunday, February 28, 2022, at a Special Meeting of the
Membership for the sole purpose of nominating candidates. Criteria for eligibility to run as a
candidate and rules for the election will be published here in a future posting.
The Offices to be filled are:
The President presides at meetings of the membership and the Executive Board, and appoints
officers pro tempore and makes committee assignments.
The Vice President serves as parliamentarian to advice the President on rules of order, and in
the absence of the President presides and performs all the duties of the President.
The Business Manager conducts the general supervision of the operation of the Local, and
represents the members with the employers, and is a full time salaried office.
The Secretary-Treasurer keeps the minutes of membership meetings and Executive Board
meetings, and maintains the correspondence and financial records of the Local, and is a full
time salaried office.
The Executive Board has supervision over all business of the Local.
The Trustees have general supervision of the finances and securities of the Local.
The Sergeant at Arms attends the door at all General Membership meetings, and assists the
presiding officer and maintains order and decorum in the meetings.
The Delegates represent the Local at conventions.
