Ballots Mailed out to Registered Voters
- All California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election.
- Your county elections office will begin mailing ballots by February 5, 2024.
Local 80’s Endorsements
Local 80 has joined with the other Hollywood 13 Locals to endorse candidates as a block through the California IATSE Council. These endorsements are viewable in the panel above or by clicking here.
In the meantime, several candidates have approached us directly, so we have allowed any candidates who have sought to provide a statement or letter to the Members to do so.

Letter to Local 80’s Members:
My name is Steve Pierson and I am a sound engineer, composer and proud SAG-AFTRA member turned community organizer, now running to serve my home of 30 years in the CA Assembly. My wife is an actor, our daughter is a film student, and like so many other working families in our community, we rely on a strong creative economy. I’ve met many of you over my career and on the picket line and I want to thank you for standing with us. I will always stand with you.
When I am elected, I will be the only legislator in Sacramento with practical experience in the entertainment industry and the only entertainment union member. I understand how essential the arts are to us all, and my number one priority is to create more opportunities for all workers in our industry and bring our jobs back home to California. We are at an inflection point in our industry and a historic moment for our labor movement. So many of our workers are hurting right now but I do have hope for our future. I know what is possible when we work together and use people’s power to make change.
I will be your champion and partner in Sacramento, and together we will build a better future for us all. I have been endorsed by Dolores Huerta, Senator Barbara Boxer, IATSE B-192, California Teachers Association, Reproductive Freedom for All, and many others, and I ask for your vote.

Dear Local 80,
Like many of you, I love the craft of filmmaking and have worked on many sets in many capacities, including pushing a dolly, location managing, and even craft service. I love our industry and have worked to keep it right here in California from my earliest days of political activism. I would be honored to garner the support of IATSE Local 80. I’ve included a rather lengthy description of my values and my accomplishments. I want you to have a complete picture of who I am and the values that drive me. My daughter works in VFX and my wife works at NBCU in consumer products. We are an industry family that lives in Burbank.
